I am always searching for ways to support my clients in finding solutions to their beauty and fashion challenges. It’s often a matter of implementing simple updates to maximize and elevate their style.

My client Laurie works in media and communications and travels a lot for work.

As a photographer and filmmaker, she predominately wears cargo pants and T-shirts for comfort and functionality. We recently worked with her on an upgrade session, where she expressed a desire to build a wardrobe that is practical, functional and stylish. She wanted help creating a capsule wardrobe that is versatile and more polished for work and play.

A great way to elevate an outfit is by incorporating a blazer and here’s how Laurie can style it three ways.

A black blazer like this on from Babaton by Aritzia New Power Blazer ($228) can be a great addition to any wardrobe.

Laurie’s style personality is casual-classic, which embodies a sense of effortlessness, ease, comfort and practicality. For work, I styled Laurie in a pair of wide-leg jeans, a white tank top and blue cotton pinstriped shirt. To pull the look together, I chose a white canvas sneaker, which could easily be swapped for leather boots.

From work meetings to dinner with friends, we replaced Laurie’s go-to skinny jeans or cargo pants with these wide-leg linen trousers. When paired with the blazer, the pants look polished and sophisticated. We went with a knit sleeveless top, which could double as a vest for layering in the cooler months, and I finished the look with a black leather sandal, which could easily be swapped for a sleek loafer in the fall.

For a more elevated look, I paired the black blazer with a black pleated skirt and white striped blouse. I accessorized with a black woven leather belt to define her waist, and opted for a pointed black flat shoe for comfort and practicality.
